Sophie was back in the game! Pure, raw, explosive pleasure! Better than drugs, better than smack! Better than a dope-coke-crack-fix-shit-shoot-sniff-ganja-marijuana-blotter-acid-ecstasy! Better than sex, head, 69, orgies, masturbation, tantrism, Kama Sutra or Thai doggy-style! Better than banana milkshakes! Better than George Lucas’s trilogy, the muppets and 2001! Better than Emma Peel, Marilyn, Lara Croft and Cindy Crawford’s beauty mark! Better than the B-side to Abbey Road, Jimmy Hendrix and the first man on the moon! Space Mountain, Santa Claus, Bill Gates’ fortune, the Dalai Lama, Lazarus raised from the dead! Schwarzenegger’s testosterone shots, Pam Anderson’s lips! Woodstock, raves… Better than Sade, Rimbaud, Morrison and Castaneda! Better than freedom, better than life!
This evening, after a long and exhausting afternoon with my dad, I went back home. I had the most restful shower of my life, I put on my so comfortable pyjama and I had dinner. Omelette made with pasta and ham, and marinated zucchini.
Then, because I wasn’t tired enough to go to bed, I thought I should watch a movie that would help me to fall into a deep sleep. I guess I’ve made a wrong choice because I ended up crying as a stupid valley girl.
Damn “Jeux d’enfance” !
Jeux d’enfance is one of those movies you will only watch once. The reason could be the fact that it is so real that will definitely make you think. Anybody wants to THINK. When people decide to watch a movie it means that they’ve decided to leave reality for a while and enjoy fiction worlds. So, if you’re part of this kind of people than Jeux d’enfance is not what you’re looking for.
Basically this film is about an unusual relationship between a girl and a boy. Sophie ( Marion Cotillard ) is a polish girl who’s always been fooled by the other children because of her family’s lifestyle. Julian ( Guillaume Canet ) is the typical middle-class child who’s mother is struggling against breast cancer and who’s father isn’t still ready to let her wife die. Accidentally they meet thanks to a magic box. Julian’s mother’s magic box.
They start playing a sort of “truth or dare” game without having any limit and who wins has the opportunity to keep the box. The more the challenge is tough the more they get into the game and the incredible thing is that their friendship gets stronger dare by dare. That box is an escape that saves them from their sad lives and those challenges they have to face are metaphors of life’s obstacles. But everyone has to grow at a certain point, you can’t always play …
I love this film. I think that differently from all those boring and meaningless sentimental movies, this has something that will make you reflect, a lot. It makes you think about love as a weapon that can kill or save depending on who’s using it. This movie belongs to every person who decides to watch it and as a matter of fact it gives you the chance to decide how to let it end..
“Cap ou pas cap ? ”
